Title: |
E0005, Physics and Instrumentation |
Institution: |
University of Southern Queensland, Australia |
Level: |
Diploma, degree. |
Description: |
This unit seeks to revise basic physics and develop an understanding of stress, strain and elastic properties and transducers that may be used in the measurement of these and other physical properties, such as pressure, density and temperature. The use of strain gauges, in conjunction with a Wheatstone Bridge, is covered in some detail as an example of a versatile transducer. System performance in terms of static and dynamic response and the influence of environmental factors is discussed in relation to making measurements that are sufficient for practical purposes. Assessment is by assignments and end of semester examination. Programmes for which this course is required or in which it can be included: Associate Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Associate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Bachelor of Technology Major in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Bachelor of Technology Major in Mechanical Engineering Bachelor of Engineering Major in Agricultural Engineering Bachelor of Engineering Major in Civil Engineering Bachelor of Egnineering Major in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Bachelor of Engineering Major in Mechanical Engineering Bachelor of Engineering Major in Mining Engineering Bachelor of Technology Major in Civil Engineering. |
